Our Vision

A Pacific where monitoring, evaluation and learning is led by Pacific people, grounded in Pacific knowledge, and trusted as the way development is understood and measured across the region.

Our Mission

Mua'akia exists to grow Pacific MEL capability and knowledge. From our hub in Fiji, we train, mentor, facilitate, research and co-design with organisations and communities across the region, from program design and strategic planning through to reflection, evaluation and learning. We help Indigenous organisations articulate their own ways of measuring impact, and we help donors and their programs meet MEL and reporting requirements in ways that are genuinely Pacific centric. Through our knowledge products, networks and communities of practice, we are building the body of Pacific MEL knowledge and working toward being the region's trusted go to for MEL done the Pacific way.

Our Values

  • We are of the Pacific. Our identity is our foundation. We are Fijian and Pacific Islander, based in Fiji at the heart of the region, and our work draws on decades of lived knowledge of the Pacific and what works here. This is not a selling point we add on, it is who we are and why we exist.

  • We do things together. Participation is our method, not a buzzword. We co-design, facilitate, mentor and teach rather than prescribe, and we tailor everything to context. We believe the people closest to the work should shape how it is measured and understood.

  • Knowledge belongs to its people. We help Indigenous organisations articulate their own ways of doing MEL and measuring their impact, and we safeguard that knowledge with care. What we write, publish and share builds the Pacific body of MEL knowledge without ever taking from the communities it comes from.

  • Trust is our currency. Whether with a village community, a local partner or a donor, we earn trust through relationship, reliability and understanding the world our partners operate in. Trust is why we can move faster and go deeper than others, and we protect it accordingly.

  • Quality, always, and on time. We are specialists and we hold ourselves to a specialist's standard. We keep learning, keep improving our systems, and keep our word on deliverables, because being the Pacific's go to for MEL is a standard we have to meet every single day, not a title we claim.
